REGISTER WITH AFGO

IS YOUR GOAT HISTORICALLY CORRECT?

IF SO THAN AFGO IS WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE REGISTERED!!

Registering is easy. First fill out the Membership Application. Choose which membership is right for you. We have individual, family, youth, veterans, and senior memberships. (Fees and forms are located at the bottom of this page)

Second, you need to fill out the Herd Name application. This can be a unique name or your own name.

Finally, you need to fill out the Animal Registration Form for the goat in which you would like to register. Email registration of a goat can be done for most goats. Unregistered(found) goats can not be registered via email.( See animal  registration form)

Goats currently registered with another registry will be considered for registration. Each goat will be evaluated. Those goats found to be historically correct may be registered with AFGO. We are a closed registry. We don’t automatically accept all registrations from all registries.

Photographs of the goat must be submitted with the Animal Registration Form. Two wallet size photos (1 of the left side and 1 of the right side) will be required for all registrations. One must include a nice view of the head. No down photos are required.

On occasions we may ask for additional pictures. Pictures are used to help determine if the goat meets the standard. Any goat that the AFGO decision committee feels DOES NOT MEET the breed standard will not be registered.  Please remember that there is a difference between meeting the standard and being a show quality goat. Show quality will be determined by a certified judge in the show-ring.

All goats must meet the AFGO breed standard.

Unregistered (found) goats please review the following information:

Goats not currently registered with any other registry and whose parents are not registered, MAY still be registered if the breed standards are met, they are historically correct, we can validate their linage. There must be a degree of myotonia. We will validate the linage in several different ways: 1. looking to see where the goat was born, who the breeder was and from what herd it originally came from, if known. 2. We will also look at any sells receipts or other documentation that might help us to establish an origin. Sometimes these items may not be available and we will work with you on that.

Photos of the left and right sides along with pictures of the front and rear must be submitted with the application for registration. Front view photos must include a clear view of the head. Breeders must also include a down picture for this type of registration. Breeders should review the breed standard to ensure your goat is qualified.

You will need to include as much information about the goat as you can. The more information we receive, helps .AFGO to determine the goat’s qualifications. AFGO believes that there are several older herds, that have some of the purest goats, but, that have just never been registered. We are willing to consider these goats for registration but we must know as much about them as possible to make the best decision. All unregistered goats will be presented to the AFGO decision committee for approval. Send in what you can.

“Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never fail.”
