FAINTING GOAT SHOWS

Here is where you will find all the information about our Fainting goat shows. We have included information about our show Definitions, the rules,  the AFGO point system, the score card, our certified judges, and much more. The show ring is a place to have fun. We even have virtual shows where you can earn a real ribbon and points. There is something for everyone . Best of all, every show is sanctioned.

AFGO offers entire miniature shows for our miniature goats so they don’t have to compete with the bigger goats. Their points are kept separate and they can qualify to earn their own permanent or master title.

AFGO offers entire Hippie show for their goats with long hair. It is comparable to the silky shows, but the Hippie goat MUST shows signs of myotonia and they MUST be pure, no Nigerian influence or other lineage allowed. These are pure Fainting goats with longer hair! Hippie  goats can earn themselves a Superior title. Since the Hippie goats are allowed to compete in the regular shows, AFGO keeps their Hippie points separate to be fair to the short haired goats.

All regular classes are divided into heights allowing the competition to be fair.

Each sanctioned show will have the standard classes along with showmanship for both adult and youth, and some shows may even offer fun classes. (Fun classes will not qualify for points).

So what are the benefits if I decide  to show?

1. First of all it will help promote the breed.

2. A great way to show others what you are accomplishing in your breeding program.

3. It is a great learning experience. Judges are required to give you an oral explanation for why they placed the class in the manor in which they did.

4. It is a great way to introduce small children to the world of livestock showing.

5. It can build confidence.

AFGO’s goal for the show ring is to promote the breed by awarding championships to goats that fit the breed standard. We will promote the HEALTHY goat and not the over conditioned goat! Bigger is not always better. We want our champions to represent what is naturally achievable in this breed!

Come join us and have some fun!

VIRTUAL SHOW AUGUST 2016 JUDGED BY BARBARA DICKERSON!!

Our Show on May 3, 2014 was a big hit. The weather was perfect. Results will be posted as soon as possible. Several breeders were in attendance along with many nice quality goats. All the goats proudly represented the breed! The show was held in Hemphill Tx at the Sabine County Expo Center.

AFGO also hosted it’s first Agility goat show! It was so much fun. Goats got a chance to show their abilities while going through several different obstacles in two different events. The jump was the most challenging of all and makes prefect since because Fainting goats DON’T jump! We hope to post a few pictures and videos of the events soon.
