AFGO Point System

About AFGO SHOWS

This page will help the breeder understand the AFGO point system. With the point system the breeder will be able to earn points and make their goats a champion!

At AFGO you can become a grand champion (in a single show), a permanent champion (in as little as 4 shows), or even a master champion ( if your permanent champion produces at least 1 offspring that also goes on to win their permanent champion).

IMPORTANT NOTE ON MINIATURE BUCKS: Miniature bucks are rare. Only a few are currently registered with AFGO. Because of this status a mini Buck will not need as many points to become a champion. They will only be required 40 points. (20 points can  be earned as a JR or during a virtual show or a combination of the two). Points must be earned from at least 2 different judges. Shows can be either major or minor. This point system on the mini bucks will change as we get more miniature bucks in the show ring. Must earn at least 2 Grand Champions.

A total of less than 5 in any gender combination will get 1.5 pts

BEST IN SHOW WINNERS wil receive 5 Pts added to their score in addition to their other points earned. Best of Show will be chosen from all the Grand Champion winners with the exception the Wether classes.  As more wethers start to show we will add a Best of show Wether category. We will have a Best of show Doe and Mini Doe,  and a Best of show Buck and Mini Buck, and a Best of show Hippie Buck and Doe. (6 BOS per show).

EXAMPLE OF HOW POINTS CAN BE GIVEN:

A doe takes first place and earns 5 pts in her individual class. This doe also wins grand champion. There were a total of 12 does for the show (either the mini show or regular show, not a combo) so this doe will earn a total of 10 points. This will be considered a major win! If she wins Best of Show she will also earn another 5 pts bringing her total to 15 pts for the show!!

A buck takes first place in his individual class. This buck goes on to win grand champion. There are only 3 bucks entered into the regular classes so this buck will receive 6.5 pts total and it will not be considered a major win. He may also earn an additional 5 pts IF he wins Best of show. A possible 11.5 pts.

**A major show is when the grand champion wins with at least 8 regular does or more in their gender class. At least 5 bucks in their gender class. Wethers must have at least 3 wethers.**Miniatures must have 3 bucks and 5 does in each of  their gender classeses**. (Please keep in mind that the Miniature show is a show of it’s own! Points and the amount of goats in those classes cannot be combined!). Hippie goats must have at least a combination of 5 in either gender. Again the Hippie show points are separate and cannot be combined with other points.

Earning your Championship Titles

Permanent Champion

Once a goat has earned a total of 60 pts it will receive a title of permanent champion. 40 points must be from major show wins. Must include 2 Grand Champion wins. 20 points can come from points earned as a junior or during a virtual show or a combination of the two. Points must be recived under at least 2 different judges.

Miniature bucks are an exception to this rule. Miniature bucks are rare.

Wethers are another exception to this rule. We have only a few wethers registered with AFGO at this time. Because of this status a wether will not need as many points to become a champion. They will only be required 40 points. (20 points can  be earned as a JR or during a virtual show or a combination of the two). Points must be earned from at least 2 different judges. Shows can be either major or minor. This point system on the wethers will change as we get more wethers  in the show ring. Must earn at least 2 Grand Champions.

Master Champion:

If a Permanent champion (Doe or Buck) goes on to have produces an offspring that wins a permanent title themselves will than allow that goat (sire or dam) to  become a Master Champion.

Superior Champion:

Superior titles are given to our Hippie goats. These points are kept separated from all other points. Once the Hippie goats has earned 40 points in the Hippie classes they will be awarded a Superior title. 10 points must be earned as a Sr. Doe, Buck, or Wether. Points must be earned under 2 different judges. 10 points must be earned in a major show. They must earn 2 Grand Champions.

A major show in the Hippie class must include at least 5 Hippie goats in either gender.  Hippie goats will be able to  compete  for  BEST OF SHOW! Hippie goats points are kept seperated from the regular show points. They will earn 60 points to receive their own title of Superior championship. 10 points must be earned as a Sr. Doe, wether, or Buck. Points must be earned under 2 different judges. 10 points must be earned in a major show. Must earn at least 2 Grand Champions.
